Local author, Anna Boucaut read and discussed her latest picture book, The Faraway Seed, with Years 1-3. Students were delighted with this gentle allegory of diversity and tolerance. Read online, watch Anna's lesson or borrow from our library.

Anzac Day Display - 24 April 2009

Trinity Beach State School commemorates Anzac Day each year with a special whole school parade prior to the public holiday. Our principal, Mr Moller-Nielsen, gives us a lesson about the significance of Anzac Day and every class makes a wreath.

Remembrance Day Display - 11 November 2008

We have been learning about Anzac Day in class and the library displays many World War I multimedia resources, many donated by the Australian War Memorial. This year we enjoyed a display of military artefacts, including authentic uniforms and medals from the era courtesy of the Queensland Museum. We were also fortunate to have a mannequin dressed in a modern Australian Army uniform and kit, courtesy of Defence Jobs. At lunchtime, we made paper slouch hats.

Remembrance Day - 11 November, 2008

Renier and Casmer have done a great job putting up the Remembrance Day display. A special feature is the brand new resource, "Australian Women in War" DVD kit. Looks great boys!

Book Week Term 3, 2008

This Year's CBC Book Week theme is Fuel Your Mind. Our competitions produced some intereresting displays. 7NC counted our votes and graphed voting trends at TBSS.

A big thank you to Irelands of Cairns who allowed us to display a Mercedes Smart Car in our library for most of the week.

On Thursday afternoon everyone stopped, used no fuel (it is too expensive anyway) and fueled their minds in a comfortable reading environment.

Simultaneous Storytime - We all enjoyed reading Arthur and more of Arthur's adventures with hundreds of thousands of school students around Australia.

The Cairns Show - Karen Cousens and Deb Robins set up our School display at the Cairns Show. The Year 7 masks made a striking border.

Mother's Day Book Fair - Thank you for your support, we were able to purchase just over $1,000 in new books for the library.
